Is Sustainable Plastic Furniture Possible?

The major issue with plastic is that it does not biodegrade in the environment. In this sense when people throw away plastic trash, that same trash will last in the environment for hundreds of years. Nevertheless, this is an issue primarily for single-use, disposable plastic goods… bringing our attention to the consumer behavior field and environment awareness! BUT consumer behavior is not the only answer to solve plastic sustainability or plastic crisis. TENSAI FURNITURE is acting both upstream and downstream (later on this post) also to become a part of the solution.

It is important to understand that plastic furniture is made to last a long time with a long life cycle. While there are environmental concerns that come from plastic manufacturing, in fact plastic furniture does not contribute as much to the plastic waste problem as many other plastic goods do leading to another subject of discussion framing consumer behavior!

In addition, plastic furniture encourages reuse where TENSAI FURNITURE goes a step further and recyclable polypropylene chairs are a reality! 

In sum: plastic furniture can be made from recycled plastics, and furniture made of plastics can also be recycled; in general, many plastics can be recycled 2 to 3 times before they are no longer usable. Generating new plastic furniture from existing or recycled plastic products and recycling the high quality sturdy plastics that go into furniture are both steps that help prevent plastic from entering the waste stream and polluting the environment.
